Further development of the Commonwealth of Independent States was discussed today in Astana, where a meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government was held. Belarus proposes to pay special attention to economic initiatives and investment: despite the growth in mutual trade, its share in the total trade turnover of the Commonwealth countries is only 20%. For example, in the European Union, the domestic trade accounts for more than a half. Following the meeting, a package of documents on cooperation in the fields of nuclear safety and space exploration was signed. Belarus and Uzbekistan have agreed to intensify bilateral cooperation, today a road map has been signed in Astana. It provides for deliveries of MAZs for 2 million dollars, MTZ tractors for 5 million. In addition, Belarus intends to enter the Uzbek cotton-textile cluster, and a trading house or a store of Uzbek goods may appear in Minsk. The next meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government will be held on May 31 in Ashgabat.
