President of Belarus to take part in meeting of Council of CIS Heads of State

The summit of the CIS leaders starts today in Ashgabat. Our President will also take part in it. Alexander Lukashenko arrived in Turkmenistan yesterday. The agenda of the meeting of heads of state includes a wide range of issues in the areas of economy, fight against terrorism, humanitarian sphere and sports. Such meetings are also an opportunity for the leaders to discuss bilateral relations. The Commonwealth summit was preceded by the negotiations of the foreign ministers. As a result, the program of action for enhancing partnership between foreign ministries was approved. This will help to better coordinate activities in the international arena. A total of ten issues were considered at the meeting of the Commonwealth foreign ministers. Among them is the draft address of the CIS heads of state to the peoples of the CIS countries and the world community in connection with the 75th anniversary of the Victory of the Soviet people in the Great Patriotic War. 

The leaders' summit in Ashgabat is expected to adopt a declaration on strategic economic cooperation of the CIS countries. Among the key topics of discussion are the issues of combating corruption, terrorism and information security.
