Crossing contact line through checkpoints simplified in Ukraine on Radunitsa

4 апреля 2018

The Trilateral Contact Group for the settlement of the situation in the Donbass simplified the regime of crossing the contact line through checkpoints on Radunitsa. This will give residents of eastern Ukraine the opportunity to safely visit cemeteries and churches. As expected, the checkpoints will open an hour earlier and close one hour later. Martin Sajdik, the OSCE Special Representative in the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine, called for full compliance with the Easter truce in the Donbass and thanked all parties for their efforts in establishing it.

Martin Sajdik also noted that the number of violations of the ceasefire has decreased significantly since 30 March. However, it was not possible to reach complete ceasefire during the Roman Catholic and Protestant Easter. Martin Sajdik stressed that it is in the interests of the population to make every effort and fully comply with the ceasefire on the eve of the Orthodox Easter and after that.

The next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine will be held in Minsk on 18 April.
