During the meeting of the contact group in Minsk Ukraine refused to discuss the topic of a cease-fire in the Donbass till the end of martial law in the country. It was introduced for 30 days from November 26. As a compromise option, OSCE coordinator Martin Sajdik suggested that the parties hold a video conference of the working group on security on December 27 and agree on a Christmas truce.

Currently, the Donbas has a so-called school truce, which entered into force on midnight on August 29. Participants in the last meeting in the outgoing year in Minsk expressed the hope that on the eve of the New Year and Christmas holidays, the parties will try to take any measures to normalize the security situation in the region. By the way, the list of winter holidays has been replenished for Ukrainians with birthday of Stepan Bandera. The decision was made by the Verkhovna Rada. The country will celebrate the 110th anniversary of the theorist of the Ukrainian national liberation movement on January 1.
