Belarus’ Parliament to discuss Sustainable Development Goals

19 декабря 2017

Today, the Parliament of Belarus will hold hearings to discuss Sustainable Development Goals. Over 100 participants will discuss the progress made in reaching the goals in the economic, environmental and social spheres, including through public-private partnership mechanisms. Based on the results, they will outline the priorities and further activities to achieve the goals in Belarus.

In September 2015, the UN member states adopted the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It includes 17 goals aimed at eliminating poverty, combating inequality and resolving climate problems. Belarus has already taken a number of important steps in this direction. In particular, the government adopted the National Strategy for Sustainable Social and Economic Development – 2030.
