Tashkent hosts meeting of Council of Heads of Government of Commonwealth of Independent States

Belarus is represented at the summit by the Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov. Today, the Heads of Government signed one of the documents on the implementation of the provisions of the free trade zone agreement. Further elimination of trade barriers between the participants is a prerequisite for economic growth and development of mutual trade. Over the past couple of years, positive dynamics has been reversed. A number of countries abolished restrictive tariff quarters and tariffs on the import of certain goods.

The Head of the Belarusian Government today also held talks with his Uzbek counterpart Abdullah Aripov. The parties discussed the activation of bilateral cooperation. As the Prime Minister of Uzbekistan emphasized, the visit of the President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Tashkent next year should make significant progress in cooperation in all areas. In anticipation of the preparation of the summit the premiers discussed the joint work plan. The meeting also discussed the preparations for the meeting of the Belarusian-Uzbek commission.
