Today, following the initiative of the Belarusian delegation, the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly discussed timely response to emergence of psychoactive substances and combating human trafficking. Minsk wants the submitted resolutions to be constructive and to have a unifying character, which is probably why no country has yet been amended the documents initiated by Belarus. In general, all the participants note the excellent level of organization of the forum and the growing authority of Minsk as a platform for negotiating the most pressing issues.
Roberto Montella, the Secretary General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly: "I would like to congratulate the Belarusian government and parliament on the excellent level of organization of the meeting. All delegates are very pleased with it. Also, it is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate how your country is doing, as well as for the delegates, it is a great opportunity to see Belarus. They often hear about Belarus in the press, and now they have the chance to see for themselves. I also want to mention a very good choice of topics that included the strengthening of mutual trust. It is not easy for the OSCE to achieve trust and confidence considering there are so many points of view and stances. But, fortunately, Minsk is becoming the center of international diplomacy, the crossroads of international politics and discussion."
According to the Secretary-General of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, a meeting at this level is a great contribution to building mutual trust. And although Minsk brought together about 300 OSCE parliamentarians, collectively this session represents the interests and views of a billion people.
