Council of Europe wants to see Belarus among its members

The Council of Europe wants to see Belarus among its members, as announced by Council of Europe Director General of Human Rights Philippe Boillat at today’s conference on the vocational training of judges and prosecutors. The event featured experts from the CIS and Europe, as well as representatives of the Prosecutor General's Office, the Investigative Committee and the Supreme and Constitutional Courts of Belarus. The training of such specialists plays an important role in implementing the European Convention on Human Rights.

The event took place on the initiative of Philippe Boillat and Prosecutor General of Belarus Alexander Konyuk.

The Council of Europe is the continent’s leading organisation on human rights. It includes 47 countries, 28 of which are EU members. Canada, Israel, Japan and the USA the observer states of the Council of Europe.
