The third congress of the Belaya Rus NGO is taking place at the National Library at this moment. The greetings to the delegates were sent by the Head of State. Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that Belaya Rus has become a truly mass movement, one of the pillars of civil society, the core of the healthy and constructive forces of our country. And close interaction with the authorities and working with the population helps to ensure the successful implementation of the socioeconomic policy of the state. This is confirmed by the fact that out of almost 23,000 nominees in local elections this year about half are members of the Belaya Rus. The Chairman of the organization outlined the main directions of work. Among them is public control and expertise of new bills, key reforms, an active position in the international arena. Alexander Radkov also noted that the potential of Belaya Rus as a public association has not yet been exhausted.
The first constituent meetings of the public association were held in June 2007. Today, Belaya Rus has more than 170 thousand members. During the congress it is planned to sum up the results for the last five years, to approve the new edition of the charter and the program.
