CIS Interparliamentary Assembly starts working in St. Petersburg today

The parliamentarians of the Commonwealth countries celebrate anniversary. The 50th meeting of the CIS Interparliamentary Assembly will open in the Tauride Palace Today. The agenda includes dozens of important issues: from countering international terrorism to cooperation in science, education and youth policy.

The conference on rural development in the Commonwealth countries opens the meeting. This means not only the construction of comfortable housing, with heating and water supply, but also new roads, schools, shops, hospitals, as well as cultural houses and sports fields. The experience of Belarus is useful here. More than 1500 agro-towns have been built in our country over 10 years. Another topic is conservation of natural resources and ecology. This applies to the safe transportation of petroleum products through pipelines and the elimination of environmental damage in areas affected by radioactive contamination.

The participants will also discuss preparations for the celebration of the 75th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The reconstruction of the Brest Fortress, construction of the Rzhev Memorial are held at the expense of the union budget. Their opening will take place on May 9, 2020.

A session of the Parliamentary Assembly of Belarus and Russia will be held in St. Petersburg these days. Deputies will consider the budget of the Union State for the next year and discuss perspective fields in approximating the legislation of two countries.
