Problems in the Collective Security Treaty Organization region must be solved independently without foreign political bureaus, as stated by President Alexander Lukashenko at today’s meeting with the Security Council Secretaries of the CSTO member states.
Belarus is chairing the CSTO this year. The Belarusian leader outlined six important tasks facing the Organization, including coordinating foreign political activity, cooperating with major international institutions and boosting military and technical potential. Among other priorities is countering terrorism and combating drug trafficking, improving the migration situation and enhancing the legal basis of the alliance.
The President has today invited the heads of the CSTO Security Councils to observe the West 2017 exercise. The upcoming maneuvers are aimed exclusively at improving the military skills of the armies of Belarus and Russia. Alexander Lukashenko stressed that the countries’ security would not be disregarded neither by Russia, nor by Belarus, nor by the CSTO.
