The work of the EAEU amid the pandemic and European sanctions is discussed today at the Palace of Independence in Minsk.

The President met with the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission Mikhail Myasnikovich.

The event takes place on the eve of the meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the summit of the leaders of the EAEU. This is a good opportunity to compare notes, discuss organizational issues of upcoming discussions. The agenda of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council alone, which is scheduled for December 11, include 30 issues. We end the year of our chairmanship in the organization with important events on integration. During this time, despite all the difficulties of 2020, a lot has been done. The main thing is that we managed to agree on a large program document for the upcoming five-year period. The EAEU Leaders Summit will be held online next week. Although Alexander Lukashenko has always been and remains an adherent of face to face meetings.

This year has become a serious test of strength for the union. Against the backdrop of the pandemic, the GDP of the EAEU countries fell by more than 3%. At the same time, the process of forming a common market is ongoing. Special attention is paid to the real sector of the economy and attraction of investments.
