The CSTO is an indispensable element of ensuring security not only for the member states of the association, but also for the Eurasian region as a whole. This is the position of the President of Belarus. Alexander Lukashenko opened today the summit of the military-political bloc (it is chaired by the head of the Belarusian state.) Our country is leading the CSTO this year. All the leaders of the member countries of the association are in Minsk today, except for the Prime Minister of Armenia. The situation in the world is becoming more complicated, all CSTO members recognize it. Modern challenges are global in nature. And it requires the unity of our countries, the balance of national and collective interests. Only then the stability and security will be ensured in the region. Today is not the time for disagreements, the Belarusian President is convinced. And all controversial issues can be resolved through diplomacy.

"All members of the Collective Security Council have noted that the current international situation is characterized by a high degree of confrontation and polarization and requires us to further consolidate our efforts, strengthen our organization as an important factor in ensuring security in the Eurasian region," the President stressed.

Alexander Lukashenko reminded that Kazakhstan will take over the CSTO chairmanship on January 1, 2024. In this connection, the President of Belarus wished his colleague Kasym-Jomart Tokayev success in resolving the long-term issues of the CSTO.
