Belarus is not willing to have bad relations with Ukraine! Such a clear-cut statement by our President was made at the today's meeting with member of the Verkhovna Rada Yevgeny Shevchenko. The meeting was an occasion to review the common agenda of the two countries. Unfortunately, there have been a lot of misunderstandings between Minsk and Kiev recently. Yet, the position of Belarus is unchanged: we are ready for dialogue. Peaceful development of relations, economic ones in the first place, is important both for Belarusians and Ukrainians. Claims and barriers will certainly not help the trade. As for the conflict in Donbass, Alexander Lukashenko is confident in the possibility of solving the situation, if the parties observe Minsk agreements.
The proposals to move the negotiation platform of the trilateral contact group resemble a "political insanity" rather than a resolution to stop the crisis.
Shevchenko, a businessman, Zelensky's proxy in the elections, and a nominee of the "Servant of the People" political party in the Verkhovna Rada, is concerned about economic problems. He repeatedly spoke out for the development of relations between our countries despite the emerging misunderstandings between Minsk and Kiev. "All this is temporary!" - stated the politician. All the more, Belarus has always been for good neighborliness and has always taken a balanced position on the conflict in Donbass.
Minsk has been a platform for negotiations for six years and is doing everything possible to make peace closer. There is enough criticism, they say there is not enough progress, the fire of war is still smoldering. But if it were not for Minsk, there would have been many more victims. Against this background, the ideas about moving the negotiating platform run counter to the common sense.
Whatever the situation in the region was and whoever came to power in Ukraine , Alexander Lukashenko adhered to one and the same motto: "Let's live together as neighbors!"
The format of cooperation between the regions tested in Russia turned out to be very much functional for Belarus and Ukraine as well. A good example was set in Gomel, and then in Zhytomyr, where the amount of contracts has already exceeded half a billion dollars. As for the forum in Grodno, it was aborted. Definitely, not at the instigation of Belarus.
The President confirmed that Belarus does not want to have bad relations with Ukraine. This is probably why Ukrainians in opinion polls call President Lukashenko the best leader in the world arena.
Minsk has always adhered to the main principle in relations - the principle of good neighborliness. It has always advocated the development of cooperation in all spheres. Mutual claims and barriers will certainly not be for the benefit of either Belarusans or Ukrainians.
