Permanent Mission of Belarus to Geneva organizes discussion in order to fill "gaps" in Western picture of the world

Hate crimes, glorification of Nazism, discrimination, restrictions on peaceful assembly and freedom of speech - all this is peculiar to the "democratic" states that are fond of teaching us. But despite the impressive list of violations, for some reason the problems of these countries are not raised in international forums. The Permanent Mission of Belarus in Geneva decided to remedy the situation. It organized a discussion dedicated to the lack of proper monitoring and response to human rights violations in the West.

Yury Ambrazevich, permanent representative of Belarus to the UN and other international organizations in Geneva:

Why do some governments think they are good? There is no difference whether the protests are held in the streets of New York, Berlin or Paris. Everywhere you can see pictures of police violence, or poverty, or injustice, or rampant inequality. Why, then, do Western governments call themselves the champions of human rights throughout the world? Why do they think they can teach, can shame and blame others? We understand from real-life reports that the human rights records of Western governments (these self-proclaimed defenders of the human rights course) are too far from being flawless.

The diplomats will prepare resolutions for future sessions of the Human Rights Council. They will address human rights abuses in the West.
