Belarusian Foreign Ministry hands over protest note to Ambassador of Lithuania to Belarus

Today, the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Belarus, Andrius Pulokas, was invited to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry. The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs handed over to the head of the diplomatic mission a protest note in which the Belarusian side stated a protest in connection with the fact of the violation of the Belarusian state border by armed officers of the border service of Lithuania that took place on Thursday. In connection with the incident, the Belarusian side initiated a working meeting of the border commissioners of Belarus and Lithuania. The meeting took place on 30 September. As a result of the talks, the Lithuanian side acknowledged the fact of the violation of the Belarusian state border and apologized. As the Foreign Ministry underlines, Belarus awaits official explanations, as well as a statement that the Lithuanian side will take the necessary measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
