Yesterday, at a session of the CSTO Collective Security Council, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stressed that Belarus has been consistently supporting active interaction within the framework of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, enhancing the effectiveness of its activities and strengthening its credibility in the international arena.
The summit was attended by the heads of all member states of the organization. There were about 20 items on the agenda. After the talks in a narrow format, the session was held in an expanded format. The leaders of the CSTO countries discussed the situation in the world and the development of the organization as a powerful structure that ensures security in the region.
A number of documents were signed following the talks. Among them was an agreement on cooperation in information security, a joint statement on the situation in Syria, as well as a decision to counter illegal migration. In Minsk, they talked about the strategy of collective security until the year 2025.
After Belarus, Kazakhstan takes over the presidency in the CSTO. The next session of the Collective Security Council will be held in 2018 in Astana.
