Exit polls work at polling stations

Polling stations opened in Belarus. At the same time sociologists started the work of exit polls. Exit polls are surveys at polling sites that show the real picture of voters' preferences. Three authoritative organizations conduct exit polls during this election. They are the Institute of Sociology of the Academy of Sciences of Belarus, the Belarusian Committee of Youth Organizations and the Austrian Institute of comparative sociological research Eurasian Barometer. For the first time their work during the exit polls will be assessed. For this purpose a group of sociologists arrived in Belarus from Spain, Germany, Switzerland and the UK. Their main task is to assess whether exit polls are conducted in line with international procedures.

Exit polls show the real picture of the preferences of voters, with an error of 3 - 5%. The error may be even less, if respondents are honest with sociologists, and if scientists find out the position of more than 10 thousand people at the exit from polling stations.
