Importance of CSTO discussed by Foreign Ministers Council

The importance of the organization and interaction in the international arena was discussed by the Foreign Ministry during the meeting of the Council of Ministers. As the head of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry Vladimir Makei said, the main task of the CSTO is the formation of favorable external conditions for the development of partner countries. During the meeting, a wide range of issues was considered from protecting the borders to strengthening the positions of the bloc states on the international arena. The most important problems will be submitted to the session of the Collective Security Council.

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus: "As the CSTO chairman, Belarus focused on the priority areas of our chairmanship in the foreign policy sphere. As a result of the meeting, we coordinated and signed statements on the ongoing campaign in some European countries to dismantle monuments that perpetuate the feat of the Red Army soldiers in the Second World War. The second statement of the Minsk is devoted to joint measures to ensure information security. The decision on the plan was also taken by the consultations of representatives of the CSTO member states on foreign policy issues."

Yuri Khachaturov, CSTO Secretary General: "The list of topics of joint statements of the CSTO includes a number of global issues considered by the UN General Assembly, in particular, these are issues of combating terrorism, ensuring stability and non-deployment of weapons in outer space, non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, as well as position on Afghanistan and neighboring territories of the CSTO."
