Number of international organizations invited to exercise to respond to radiation accidents in Belarus

Competent authorities of all neighboring countries, as well as a number of international organizations, have been invited to the exercise to respond to radiation accidents in Belarus. Among them are the IAEA and the CSTO. Practical exercises of command and staff exercises will be held in different regions of the country and at two border crossings. The active phase of the exercise will be held on October 19 in the Grodno Region in Ostrovets District.

The purpose of the exercise is to check the readiness of the national rapid response system and to adapt the national plan for protecting the population and territories from emergencies. In addition, a number of other issues, including interaction with neighboring countries and international organizations, will be studied in detail.

The Belarusian Foreign Ministry also commented on the active discussion in the Lithuanian media of Vilnius's intention to refuse to participate in the EU's technical assistance programs for our country in the field of nuclear security. The foreign policy department noted that the composition is formed by the European Union. And these experts sign the standards adopted in the EU, the IAEA, other international organizations.
