According to the alarming data provided by the United Nations, the Iraqi city of Mosul needs 20 million dollars to help its residents. The city, liberated from the so-called Islamic State, is in tatters. More than half of the houses are completely destroyed. Bridges, schools, and medical institutions are in ruins. Preliminary estimates suggest, 360,000 people have lost their homes and now have no shelter. According to Ali Osam Abed Ali, the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Iraq in Belarus, victory can only be considered complete when all the refugees are able to return to the city and when all the conditions for a stable life are provided.

Ali Osam Abed Ali, the Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Iraq in Belarus: "Now, our priority is reconstruction and rehabilitation of the war-torn areas of Mosul. And I call on Belarusian companies that have the relevant expertise in construction, infrastructure, electricity, and water supply to enter the Iraqi market and provide assistance at this stage. I would like to thank Belarus for the cooperation in military issues. Even prior the battle of Mosul, this support played an important part in the fight against terrorists in Ramada and Fallujah."

In early August, Minister of Health of Iraq Dr Adila Hammoud is scheduled to visit Minsk. The parties plan to discuss the possibilities of supplying Belarusian medicines and medical equipment to Iraq, including for rendering assistance to the wounded in Mosul.
