By Yuri Kozlov: The Minsk summit and its positive outcome have caused a stir in the international media. The event was covered by more than 500 journalists, tens of TV crews, reporters from Europe, Asia, the USA and the Middle East and representatives of the largest news agencies in the world.

According to Google statistics, about 5,000 articles containing the title word "Minsk” have appeared on the websites of news portals, agencies and broadcasters over the past 24 hours. More than 2,000 videos have been downloaded to Youtube. The most popular of them – the handshake between Pyotr Poroshenko and Vladimir Putin – has been viewed about 90,000 times.

European politicians describe the Minsk agreements as “a huge breakthrough” and “a great result.” Apart from direct participants in the negotiations, the Minsk summit results have been commented on by European Prime Ministers and their deputies, as well as Foreign Ministry heads, including Italian Prime Minister Matteo Renzi, UK Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg, German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier, European Council President Donald Tusk, Finnish Prime Minister Alexander Stubb, European Parliament President Martin Schulz and Danish Foreign Minister Martin Lidegor.

Currently, the new Minsk agreements are being discussed by European Union leaders in Brussels. By the way, due to the Normandy Four talks the summit in Belgium was delayed for several hours.

The fact that there is hope for peace due to the reached agreements has been highlighted by Reuters, Bloomberg, the BBC, Euronews, Al-Jazeera, the Xinhua News Agency, FOX News and the New York Times. The world’s media are unanimous in their view that the compliance with the reached agreements will influence the nearest future of both Ukraine and Europe.
