Minsk and London are interested in further development of bilateral relations, as well as in promoting initiatives aimed at easing tensions in the region, the press service of the Belarusian Foreign Ministry stated following the visit of Vladimir Makei – the head of the department – to the United Kingdom.
In London, the Foreign Minister met with the head of the British Foreign Office – Boris Johnson, as well as Minister of State at the Foreign and Commonwealth Office Alan Duncan and Minister of State for Trade Policy Greg Hands.
As a result of the talks, the parties signed a document on trade and economic cooperation. It provides for the establishment of an intergovernmental trade dialogue to facilitate further development of mutual trade and investment.
The UK is one of the main trade partners of Belarus. For the past several years, it has become the third largest exporter of Belarusian goods and the second largest foreign investmentor in the Belarusian economy.
