Belarusian Foreign Minister urges to finish Cold War

The UN should become a practical instrument for resolving conflicts without violence and war. This was stated by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus at the rostrum of the UN General Assembly. Vladimir Makei urged to put an end to the Cold War.

Vladimir Makei notes that some people may find this idea unrealistic just like the proposal of the President of Belarus to introduce peacekeepers into Ukraine was perceived three years ago. And now it is being actively discussed at the UN. During his speech, the Foreign Minister also touched upon the issue of globalization that did not work out as intended. The process can be made fairer with the help of integration of integrations, interaction and conjugation between regional processes, as well as the Chinese initiative One Belt One Road. Separately, the Minister of Foreign Affairs also dwelt on the theme of the UN reform. The new Secretary General launched a process of universal reform of the organization, and Belarus welcomes this undertaking. At the same time, Minsk believes that success is possible, if the process is transparent, does not lead to bureaucracy and becomes inclusive. The voice of each member state must be heard.

Today, the general political debate will continue on the UN fields. Much attention will be focused on the statement of the North Korean Foreign Ministry in connection with the aggravation of the situation on the Korean peninsula.
