The new US administration retains outdated and prejudiced stereotypes about Belarus, as stated by Belarus’ Foreign Ministry in regard to the extension of the US National Emergency towards Belarus.

The document, adopted back in 2006 during the presidency of George W. Bush, provides for a number of visa restrictions on Belarusian citizens.

Belarusian Foreign Ministry: “US assertions that Belarus, which is doing its best to enhance regional and international security, can pose a threat to the United States are absolutely unacceptable for us. Perhaps, it will take more time to overcome a certain inertia that is still present in our relations”.

At the same time, according to the Belarusian Foreign Ministry, the official Minsk is set to continue a constructive dialogue with the US and consistently stands for mutually beneficial bilateral cooperation.
