Belarus needs no admonitions of the European Union, which is trying to tell our citizens how to live in their country. This was the response of the Foreign Ministry of Belarus to the UN Human Rights Council resolution on the situation in the country. Minsk called it another farce on the theme "We condemn Belarus," played by the European Union. Such documents are issued with enviable regularity and prolificacy.
Anatoly Glaz, spokesman for the Belarusian Foreign Ministry: "We'll definitely do without such admonitions. A new resolution of the UN HRC will have the same fate as the mandate of the special rapporteur of the HRC on the human rights situation in Belarus: no one, except for their authors will need it."
Anatoli Glaz drew attention to the fact that the decision of the HRC was taken against the rules of procedure, by a minority, not a majority. In addition, this odious resolution will cost the UN budget over $2.5 million. And it will be used to pay the salaries and travel expenses of the staff.
