International experts appreciate the peacekeeping initiatives of Belarus, including the organization of negotiations on a peaceful settlement of conflict in Donbass. This was said today by the program director for Belarus of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation Wolfgang Zender, who took part in the 10th international conference "The Future of the Eastern Partnership" in Minsk.

Wolfgang Zender, Program Director for Belarus of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (Germany): "Belarus, I believe, is a real guarantor of security in the region. It is a peaceful country with a peaceful history and, I hope, with a peaceful future. Recently, Belarus has been increasingly involved in projects aimed at ensuring regional security. Negotiations on peaceful settlement in the east of Ukraine are held in Minsk. Belarus strengthens cooperation with Georgia, Armenia and other countries. This is an independent country, which, of course, is very important for the preservation of peace in Europe. "

One of the main tasks of the meeting is to work out recommendations for the upcoming Eastern Partnership summit. It will be held in November in Brussels. The EU project aims at rapprochement with the European Union of six post-Soviet states: Belarus, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine. The program Eastern Partnership was established at the special meeting in May 2008. The conference participants also discussed economic issues.
