Contact group meeting takes place in Minsk

Following the principle of peace and neutrality, Belarus continues to remain the central platform for resolving the situation in Ukraine. Calls are made again in Minsk to de-escalate the conflict in the Donbas. As stated by OSCE special representative Martin Sajdik after the meeting of the contact group, it seems that the parties to the conflict, instead of a peaceful settlement, are moving in the opposite direction. Earlier, Martin Sajdik expressed concern about the situation around the Kerch incident and called on the parties for restraint.

Since November 26, martial law was introduced for 30 days in the regions of Ukraine bordering Russia and Transnistria. Entry of Russian male citizens aged 16 to 60 years into the territory of the country was banned. During this time, more than 600 people were not allowed into Ukraine.

As stated today by President Petro Poroshenko on the Ukrainian ICTV channel, Kiev is preparing a lawsuit to the UN International Court of Justice "to bring Russia to justice for aggression against Ukraine."
