On November 20, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko signed Decrees No. 367 "On scheduling elections of deputies" and No. 368 "On scheduling elections to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the Republic of Belarus," informed the press service of the Belarusian leader.
These documents, in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution, provide for elections to the House of Representatives of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation and local councils of deputies of the twenty-ninth convocation on a single day of voting - February 25, 2024, and to the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of the eighth convocation - April 4, 2024.
Nomination of candidates to the Council of the Republic by local Councils of Deputies, executive and administrative bodies shall take place no later than March 21, 2024.
At the same time, the Central Election Commission, state bodies and other organizations are instructed to take measures to organize the elections, and the Government is instructed to ensure the financing of expenses for their preparation and holding at the expense of the republican budget.
