The situation in the world is characterized by a high degree of confrontation and polarization. This was stated by President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko at the meeting of the session of the CSTO Collective Security Council in an expanded format, BelTA informs.

"We have just completed our work in the narrow composition, assessed the impact on the security of the CSTO member states of the emerging situation, the prospects for resolving crisis situations in the CSTO zone of responsibility in the adjacent regions. All members of the Collective Security Council noted that the current international situation is characterized by a high degree of confrontation and polarization and requires us to further consolidate our efforts, strengthen our organization as an important factor in ensuring security in the Eurasian region," the President stressed.

Alexander Lukashenko reminded that Kazakhstan will take over the CSTO chairmanship on January 1, 2024. In this connection, the President of Belarus wished his colleague Kasym-Jomart Tokayev success in resolving the long-term issues discussed at the CSTO summit in Minsk.
