Chair of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina commented that the competition in election commissions became smaller than 4 years ago. First of all, the number of citizens who were nominated from labor collectives reduced – it is now only 10%.
Nonetheless, public associations and political forces are growing more active. At the moment, only 8 parties of the country’s 15 parties are taking part in the election so far, but they all represent different political directions.
Within a week, by 29 November, a list of territorial commissions with the borders of the constituencies of the country will be published in the local media.
Lidia Yermoshina, the Chair of the Central Commission of Belarus: "By order of the CEC, a map of the city of Minsk will be made, because this is the most difficult region. The information will then be posted on the CEC website. The rest of the maps are already being made. For candidates and political parties, the borders of the constituencies are essential, because all signatures collected outside the constituency are not taken into account. So, candidates and their teams do not want to work in vain."
The nomination of candidates for deputies of local councils will begin on 10 December, and a month later they will be registered. The elections will be held on 18 February 2018.
