Trilateral Contact Group on Ukraine meets in Minsk

6 сентября 2017

Over the past two weeks, the so-called "school truce" in the Donbass has helped reduce the number of violations of the ceasefire by 67%. This was announced today by the OSCE Special Representative in the Trilateral Contact Group Martin Sajdik after a meeting in Minsk.

Martin Sajdik commended the fact that the parties to the conflict have managed to avoid civilian casualties almost completely. He added that thanks to these efforts, as well as the so-called grain truce, the situation this year has improved considerably.

The Group also discussed the possibility of sending the UN troops to ensure security of the OSCE mission in the Donbass. The next meeting of the Trilateral Contact Group will take place in Minsk on 20 September.
