Contact group fails to agree on joint statement on Easter truce

The Contact group on the settlement of the conflict in Donbass failed to approve a single text of the statement on the introduction of a new truce in the region in connection with the Easter holidays.

Martin Sajdik, OSCE special representative in the Trilateral Contact Group: “The parties supported the idea of an Easter truce in principle but, unfortunately, they could not come to a single statement text. I hope that in practice the parties will refrain from hostilities, in particular, during the upcoming Easter and May holidays. ”

Martin Sajdik welcomed the choice of the Ukrainian people in the presidential elections and the intention of the newly elected President to resolve the conflict and continue Minsk process.
