Kazakhstan’s Astana is preparing to host two large-scale events - a Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit and EXPO 2017. Belarus will be represented at a meeting of the Heads of State Council by the President. Alexander Lukashenko is scheduled to leave for a two-day working visit to Kazakhstan today. In his address, the Belarusian leader will express the country’s stance on Shanghai Cooperation Organization development, including its economic dimension.
Being an SCO observer, Minsk is an active participant in a series of events in all major areas, including the political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.
Alexander Lukashenko is also planned to hold a bilateral meeting with Nursultan Nazarbayev in Astana. The leaders will discuss the agenda and interaction in integration formats. The Belarusian President will also take part in the opening ceremony of the EXPO 2017 exhibition. More than 110 countries, including Belarus, and about 20 international organizations have confirmed their participation in the event. The topic of this year’s large-scale forum - the energy of the future - is very relevant for Belarus as it is closely connected with the implementation of sustainable development strategy principles.
EXPO 2017 will be available for visitors from Saturday.
