28 union programs with Russia have been agreed. This is the result of the negotiations between Alexander Lukashenko and Vladimir Putin held in Moscow on September 9. The main economic points are registered in the documents: starting from energy supplies, common principles of agricultural and industrial policy up to social guarantees.
The Union State is a unique integration association, which Minsk and Moscow have long been building as full-fledged partners. The main thing is equal rights for economic entities of our countries.
А. Lukashenko: adoption of Union State programs will be a breakthrough
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
It will be a breakthrough, a breakthrough in many areas. It's not a secret. We will publish these programmes, we will show what areas we have been working on.
V. Putin: We need to intensify efforts to raise the competitiveness of the economies of Belarus and Russia
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia:
The drop in global GDP is more than 3%, and in trade it is even more. So this also encourages us to step up our efforts to enhance the competitiveness of our economies and to make the most of the advantages that the Union State has to offer.
The presidents reported that 28 union programs had been agreed upon. They specified clearly the mechanisms of development of a common economic space: the construction of common financial and energy markets, transport space, the formation and implementation of a common industrial and agricultural policy, an increase in mutual social guarantees for citizens of the countries.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
I will highlight the most important results. They include equal rights for economic entities of our countries, Belarus and Russia. The very equal conditions that various representatives of Belarus, including me as President, have been talking about for many years. We are full-fledged partners. There must be fair competition for all companies in the markets of Belarus and Russia. Belarusian-Russian integration was conceived precisely for the sake of equal rights, beneficial cooperation, and fruitful cooperation.
Vladimir Putin, President of Russia:
Agreements have also been reached on issues, very sensitive for the Belarusian side, related to the pricing of Russian energy carriers. Following lengthy discussions, mutually acceptable approaches on gas issues have been developed. The price for Russian natural gas for Belarus in 2022 will remain at the level of the current year.
А. Lukashenko called the deepening of integration with Russia the most effective answer to his opponents
The Union State is a unique integration union, which Minsk and Moscow have been building for a long time. Belarusians and Russians do not feel they are strangers: they can move freely, get education, work.
Alexander Lukashenko, President of the Republic of Belarus:
There is nothing bad for the peoples of Belarus and Russia in these programmes. Everything is aimed, as the President of Russia said, at the growth of the well-being of our peoples. And we should probably put an end to all these conversations: our integration is extremely mutually beneficial.
