The Belarusian-Russian exercises West-2017 do not threaten NATO countries. This was stated by the Secretary General of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Estonia. However, according to Jens Stoltenberg, for the exercises to meet the requirements of information transparency, it is necessary to organize briefings on the scenario of exercises, as well as to provide an opportunity to talk with individual soldiers and make flights over the place of the exercises.
The West-2017 exercises will be held from 14 to 20 September. They are exclusively defensive in nature. Almost 13 thousand soldiers, 680 units of military equipment, as well as about 70 aircraft and helicopters will be involved in maneuvers.
