The European Community will have to answer for Afghanistan on its own

The European community will have to answer for Afghanistan, and to cope with it by its own forces.

One of the determining factors of aggravation of the situation on the Lithuanian-Belarusian border was the European Union's suspension of cross-border cooperation projects. Of course, this reduces the ability of Belarus to physically stop the flow of people, fleeing from the war and hunger. Deputy Permanent Representative of Belarus to the OSCE Andrei Lozovik recalled this at a session of the annual OSCE conference to review security problems.

Andrei Lozovik, deputy permanent representative of Belarus to the OSCE:

We have repeatedly applied to the European Commission with proposals to hold appropriate consultations, but these appeals still remain unanswered. You can invent all you want, but the border should be a line of cooperation. Any issues on it can be successfully resolved only through mutually respectful dialogue.

The West has created a common challenge for the OSCE Member States. It can be countered only by joint efforts, not by building fences and deepening "dividing lines" in the space of the organization by imposing sanctions and closing the sky. The Belarusian side stresses: "We have always been and will be a reliable partner in various areas of cooperation, but not to the detriment of Belarusian national interests."
