Dialogue between EU and Eastern Partnership reaches new level

11 декабря 2017

Belarus does not plan to become a member of the European Union, but it is interested in participating in its initiatives. This was the statement of the deputy foreign minister at the forum "The European Union and the Eastern Partnership: approaches to regional cooperation".

According to Oleg Kravchenko, the dialogue between the EU and the Eastern Partnership has reached a new level today. Both Minsk and Brussels came to the understanding that the Eastern Partnership should be more pragmatic and understandable both for the citizens of Belarus and for EU residents.

Minsk and the EU intend to start negotiations on a basic agreement. In her turn, Margot Klestil-Löffler – the CEI Deputy Secretary General – noted that the presidency of Belarus in the association created a positive balance in the organization's activities.

Tomorrow, Minsk is hosting a summit of the Central European Initiative that will bring together heads of government and key ministers.
