Effectiveness of security measures in CSTO member countries discussed at summit in Minsk

A session of the CSTO Collective Security Council was held in Minsk today. This organization includes Belarus, Armenia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia and Tajikistan. Heads of all participating States of the Organization arrived at the summit. Each of the distinguished guests was greeted by Alexander Lukashenko in the hall of the Palace of Independence. The leaders communicated in a narrow format for about two hours. Afterwards, the meeting in an expanded format took place.

The leaders of the CSTO countries discussed the situation in the world and the development of the organization as a powerful structure providing security in the region. A number of documents were signed following the talks, including an agreement on cooperation in the field of information security, a joint statement on the situation in Syria, as well as a decision to counter illegal migration. In addition, the strategy of collective security for the period until 2025 was discussed.
