The deputies voted for the address of the Chambers of Parliament to the President with a request to submit to the House of Representatives a bill to amend the Constitution.
It provides for holding elections to the local Councils of Deputies of the 29th convocation simultaneously with the elections to the House of Representatives of the 8th convocation. Such an initiative from the Constitutional Commission was voiced in the Oval Hall last week. The Head of State created this agency that is engaged in the generalization of incoming proposals, development of possible editions of constitutional norms. Citizens' proposals were supported by all members of the Constitutional Commission and the absolute majority of lawyers and jurists. The final decision to amend the Basic Law of the country will be made by the Belarusian people at the republican referendum in early 2022.
Deputies of National Assembly make statements about incident with state flag of Belarus in Riga
And today both Houses of Parliament adopted a joint statement in connection with the incident with the national flag of Belarus in Riga. This action is a continuation of the unfriendly policy of Latvia towards our country. The National Assembly regards this as a violation of international law and requires the political leadership of Latvia to urgently adopt measures to prevent support for any actions aimed at destabilizing the situation in international relations, the statement says.
After that, the speaker of the Upper House of Parliament Natalia Kochanova spoke about the appeal of the leadership of both Chambers to the President.
