President Alexander Lukashenko has arrived for a working visit in Tajikistan.
Tomorrow the meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State will be held in Dushanbe. The presidents will consider and make decisions both on the current activities of the Commonwealth and on the development of further cooperation in various fields.
A meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the CIS countries was held in Dushanbe today. Here, the issues covering the main areas of cooperation in the organization were discussed. Some documents will be submitted tomorrow for consideration by the heads of state.
Outside the summit bilateral events of Belarus and Tajikistan are planned. Alexander Lukashenko and Emomali Rahmon will discuss the most pressing issues of cooperation and monitor implementation of the previous agreements.
The official Minsk comes to each summit with a package of initiatives. For example, last time the Head of State reminded his colleagues that since the CIS is called an elite club, the status should be supported by real actions. At the same time, it is necessary to analyze the effectiveness of numerous structures under the Commonwealth, parliamentarians should get involved in the work more actively.
The Foreign Minister of Belarus proposes to consolidate efforts to give a new impetus to economic cooperation in the CIS. Security issues remain topical for the countries of the commonwealth.
In October, Minsk will host a large-scale anti-terrorist conference of the OSCE, in which representatives of 40 states will take part. Security issues are on the agenda of tomorrow's meeting of the CIS Heads of State. Two important documents are being prepared for signing: a 5-year program of joint measures to combat crime, as well as an agreement to strengthen the fight against crimes in the IT sphere.
Humanitarian issues will be discussed as well. For example, 2021 will be declared a year of architecture and construction in the Commonwealth. Dushanbe will be called the cultural capital of the Commonwealth in 2021.
