By Olga Davidovich: Minsk once again became a platform for significant international events contributing to the strengthening of stability in the region. The Belarusian capital is hosting a meeting of delegations from the Central European Initiative countries. A record number of participants arrived at the meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CEI – 40 delegates from 13 countries. This year, Belarus presides in the organization.
The key theme of Belarus' chairmanship is the promotion of compatibility and complementarity in Europe, as well as combating terrorism, settling the migration issue and the conflict in Ukraine.
Mikhail Myasnikovich, the Speaker of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus: "We are very pleased that Belarus is showing such an initiative and that in this context we can foster cooperation between different countries. For Belarus, this creates a good platform for the future, including for relations with countries The EU and other member states of the initiative, Belarus strongly identifies itself as a security donor in Europe, which contributes to global security."
The general theme of the meeting of the CEI Parliamentary Assembly in Minsk is digital technologies in terms of ensuring geopolitical security. The implementation of the latest information security technologies is on the national and international agenda. A legal toolkit that would allow for effective regulation in this area is needed right now.
Belarus proposed to act as a platform for international cooperation in IT. Today, this country is moving towards the introduction of electronic technologies in almost all spheres of life – from e-government to paperless trade. At the stage of elaboration now is a project of e-healthcare, which will be financed by the World Bank.
