Belarus and Poland will be forming a clear strategy of cooperation in various spheres from energy to youth policy. In addition, the countries will be preparing for a forum of Belarusian and Polish regions, the idea supported by Alexander Lukashenko.
Poland is Belarus’ third partner in terms of trade turnover and one of the top ten investors in the country’s economy. Belarus is home to over 350 companies with Polish capital. Although the dialogue has intensified in recent years, the political relationship yet have be raised to a higher level.
Coming back to Warsaw from Minsk, Stanislaw Karczewski gave an interview to the popular Polish radio station ZET, sharing details of his visit to Belarus and negotiations with the Belarusian leader. “That was my most difficult international visit, but a very important one for both Poland and Belarus and for turning Belarus towards a European direction. The conversation with the Belarusian President was cordial, lasting for more than an hour. I got an impression that Alexander Lukashenko was a politician for whom the development of Belarus was very important. And one can see with the naked eye that the country is changing. I was there 11 years ago, and a lot has changed since that time. Mr. Lukashenko is a warm person who cares about the interests of Belarus”.
