Belarus and Russia expect to sign agreement on mutual recognition of visas by end of year

Today, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus Vladimir Makei told reporters on the results of the meeting in Moscow with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov. Belarusian and Russian experts work closely together on the document. Several rounds of consultations have been held, the next one will be held in the coming days in Moscow.

Vladimir Makei, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Belarus:

"We really hope to conclude this agreement before the end of the year. There are still some controversial points. First of all, they are related to the length of stay of foreigners in the territory of a particular state."

The sides also spoke in favor of establishing stable contacts between the EAEU and the EU. The issue of placing a peacekeeping contingent in Ukraine was also raised. As Vladimir Makei notes, Belarus is ready to send a mission to help restore peace in this country.
