Alexander Lukashenko met with US Secretary of State Michael Pompeo. The talks were held at the Independence Palace. The parties discussed the normalization of bilateral relations and economic prospects of Minsk and Washington. Michael Pompeo is called Donald Trump's right hand. The U.S. Secretary of State is the most senior official who has been visiting Minsk for more than twenty-five years. The last one was Bill Clinton in 1994. And in 2019, Assistant to the President of the United States, John Bolton, came to us. By the way, Pompeo notes that Washington will soon appoint an ambassador to Belarus. And in general, the parties intend to work to improve the political climate and economic agenda. The possibility of supplying American hydrocarbons was also discussed. Michael Pompeo, US Secretary of State said that the USA is ready to help Belarus to create a strong and independent state. Its energy producers are ready to provide Belarus with the necessary oil at competitive prices. It should be noted that the two countries' cooperation is quite successful: the trade turnover in 2019 came close to $800 million.
