At the EAEU summit, the leaders of the Eurasian "five" discussed the most urgent issues, from incentives for Eurasian economic growth to the joint response to the sanctions pressure. The summit was held in an online format. The union observers, Uzbekistan and Cuba, joined the summit last year.
Alexander Lukashenko is sure that the sanctions pressure on Russia will affect each of the EAEU countries to various degrees. It's only a matter of time. And this pressure of the West must be countered with a united Eurasian front. And the current situation forces us to act together. Only in unity it is possible to defend the interests of the Eurasian Union and ensure the economic growth of the member states.
Following the summit, it became known that at the suggestion of the Belarusian party the EAEU will adopt measures to counteract the sanctions policy. The initiative of Belarus was supported by leaders of the integration.
The heads of state also discussed the formation of a common gas market. The tariff policy in this part has not been agreed yet. The draft agreement has already been submitted by the Russian party. The Presidents agreed to adopt the final approaches for the next EAEU meeting. It is expected to take place next fall.
