Official Minsk is in favor of establishing cooperation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization. In today's difficult conditions, the alliance in the military and political dimensions is acquiring more and more significance.
Alexander Lukashenko gave this assessment of the current and forthcoming work within the CSTO. The President took part in the summit of the Organization along with other leaders of the CSTO countries. The discussion was held online. This year isn't stable, following the difficult international situation. The military confrontation between the world centers of power is escalating. The language of sanctions and threats dominates. The world is on the verge of unleashing an uncontrolled arms race. The pandemic exacerbates social tensions by complicating the situation in world politics and economies. The President is confident behind this is the well-thought-out tactics of global players. It aims to create manageable chaos and justify double standards.
The difficult world situation causes concern for all member countries of the alliance and forces them to be on the alert. In such conditions, technologies of color revolutions have become common practice. Belarus has fully experienced all this, having been under unprecedented external pressure over the past months. The President elaborated on the internal situation in the country. The Belarusian leader noted the unhealthy interest of our western neighbors and the incessant provocations in society. All this continues to heat up the internal situation, creating threats to civil peace.
The summit participants called on each other for allied support. Its role has grown significantly lately. It will be possible to withstand modern challenges only by jointly bringing together the positions of the member states on a collective response. Alexander Lukashenko called on the leaders of the CSTO countries to discuss security issues in person in the near future and in an extended format. The President invited other interested parties to the dialogue.
