The Constitutional Commission has been operating in Belarus since mid-March. It is focused on the renewal of this important, fundamental document for the state. Everyone who wants to preserve the country has joined the work. And Alexander Lukashenko is directing the authoritative team to be as open and public as possible.
This week the heads of the commission initiated a meeting with the President. Alexander Lukashenko announced a thorough discussion of all the articles of the new draft constitution. Moreover, the dialogue on the novelties will be open to all the people.
The Commission has already held four sessions. Amendments have been prepared for the sections on fundamental rights and freedoms of man and citizen, on the electoral system, as well as proposals on the possible redistribution of powers between the President and the Government. On Friday, members discussed the functions and powers of parliament.
