"The CSTO needs a common position on Afghanistan," the President of Belarus said yesterday at the Summit of the heads of state. The event was held via videoconference.

The leaders of the organization's countries are focused on the situation in Afghanistan and its impact on the security of the CSTO member states. The session was chaired by the President of Tajikistan.

In his speech, Alexander Lukashenko outlined the problem of migrants and refugees from Afghanistan and spoke about the incident with Afghans on the border with Poland, where more than 50 refugees have been living in inhuman conditions in neutral territory for several days.

The President has assured that despite Belarus is not geographically close and does not border with Afghanistan, the country will follow the agreed common position within the CSTO. This position now needs to be worked out. The situation will be assessed as reasonably and adequately as possible. Also, Alexander Lukashenko does not exclude the deployment of the American army in the countries neighboring Afghanistan. This topic deserves careful study from a security point of view.
