"Belarus will not stay away from the Afghan issue," Alexander Lukashenko announced at the meeting with the Chairman of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan September 8.

The President has noted that Minsk is ready to work on Central Asian issues, relying on strong and trusting relations with Moscow and Nur-Sultan. The Belarusian side intends to adhere to the strategy developed in the CSTO on the Afghan issue. Moreover, one of the members of the organization - Tajikistan - borders with Afghanistan and also faced the problem of refugees from the Islamic republic.

The Taliban Movement today announced the composition of the government, thereby finally taking power into their own hands. A couple of weeks ago, the organization announced the creation of the Islamic Emirate. Protests and local fights break out. This suggests that Afghanistan still remains an explosive region of Central Asia.

The CSTO Summit will aim at helping the country to find peace. It will start on September 16 in Dushanbe. The President and Karim Massimov also talked it over today. They also touched cooperation between the special services of Belarus and Kazakhstan within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Space.

Belarus and Kazakhstan are old partners and allies. In addition to the Eurasian Economic Union and the CSTO, the countries are related to the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
